Looking over in the distance, all you see is dark skies. The sun is being covered by threatening clouds. Lightning strikes in the distance. If you listen closely, you can even hear some rumbles of thunder. The wind starts to pick up from the direction of the storm. The smell of rain is in the air.......
Welcome to The Weather Chronicles! My name is Nikki, and I'm an avid weather enthusiast here in Phoenix, Arizona. I know what you're thinking. Arizona doesn't get storms. Well I've lived here almost 12 years now and while our storms here compare nothing to what you see in Tornado Alley, we do get some pretty interesting weather. Most of our severe storms come during the Monsoon, which usually occurs from sometime in July all the way through September. Our summer heat combined with the monsoonal moisture coming up from Old Mexico can bring us some very unstable weather. The monsoon is very unpredictable. One minute it will be clear with some clouds scattered about, and the next we get a downpour or a microburst.
I've always been interested in weather, but I didn't start taking a bigger interest in photographing the weather until 2000. Now, many photos later, I've decided to finally get a website up and running to share my photos with the world.
